About me
I'm
an NCTJ (National Council for the Training of
Journalists) and NVQ (National Vocational
Qualifications) qualified journalist. I have many
years of experience as a writer and editor, and
until October 2001 worked as Travel & Days
Out Producer at Virgin.net. I have also written for
a number of travel related magazines, including TNT Magazine, Essentially America and
Cycle
Touring & Campaigning.
Some
years ago I started taking photos as a visual
record of my travels. I have since gained City
and Guilds qualifications in photography and
built up a large collection of transparency
images. My photographic work is also represented
by photo library and agency Eye
Ubiquitous.
I'm
now working as a freelance travel writer and
photographer. My main interests include
independent travel, covering backpacking, off-the-beaten-track
holidays, cultural tours and sightseeing. I also
have extensive experience of adventure travel and
activities, especially trekking, snowboarding,
surfing, mountain biking and white-water rafting.
Having worked on a travel website, I also have a
good knowledge of online and off-line travel
issues.
I've
travelled extensively across four continents and
have an in-depth knowledge of the following
countries: United Kingdom, Spain, France,
Portugal, USA, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica,
Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Morocco, Thailand,
Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
